Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac post strong earnings, but the reform outlook unclear.

The government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac netted billions in profits last year. Last week, Fannie Mae reported a net income of $17 billion for the year and $4.1 billion in the final quarter, driven primarily by guaranty fee income, the company reported. Freddie Mac reported net income of $11.9 billion in 2024 and $3.2 billion in the fourth quarter.
